THE TOWN OF XVAUSAU,
What was the name of the first town in Alarathon county? This (pies- tion is not so easily answered. By the act establishing Alarathon county, the "village of XX'ausau" was named as the county seat. The village of course was not incorporated at that time, and was named a village only because of the number of mills and buildings dose togetlier village-like. The election was held and the vote for county officers canvassed in the village, and the report of their canvass is recorded and appears in the minute liook of the county board, or as they were then termed "the board of su])er\ isors," and their report speaks very distinctly of a "town of XXliusau,"
