Description
Map of North America showing the boundaries between French, Spanish, and English claims after the French and Indian War. Kitchin includes numerous place names, including regions, Native American lands, the colonies, cities, settlements, forts, mountains, rivers, and lakes. The English colonies extend to the Mississippi River. Annotations dot the map, including some which show the locations of certain discoveries (real and fictional). The mythical Western Sea, Mountain of Bright Stones, and River of the West all make an appearance. A fort on top of a hill, reachable by steps, and a tree adorn the title cartouche.
