Map of Virginia and parts of Maryland. It shows borders, boundary lines, Native American tribes and land, towns, forts, roads, mountains, waterfalls, bays, and rivers. Annotations appear throughout the map, such as one in the Appalachian Mountains reading "cow pasture" and another below that reading "Virginia Boundary with ye Six Nations in 1722." Kitchin further emphasizes the farthest settlements in Virginia in an effort to establish English claims during the French and Indian War. Plants and waves frame the title cartouche. Faint offsetting of text is apparent along the left side of the map.
