Object Description
Title | King--Pre-1964 WATS Line calls (Mary E. King papers , 1962-1999; Archives Main Stacks, Z: Accessions M82-445, Box 1, Folder 1) |
Author/Creator | King, Mary E., 1940- |
Folder Description | Pre-1964 WATS Line Calls. This folder contains a day-by-day log of telephone calls placed from and received at Freedom Summer headquarters. It appears that a person staffing the WATS line checked in with SNCC offices around the South each night. These round-up reports and internal memos give a sense of the day-by-day news. The election results from the Freedom Vote of November 1963 appear here. These reports cover the period of time in which four little girls in Birmingham and JFK were killed, but there are only brief mentions of them. |
