Title | CORE--Fund Raising (COFO, CORE) - Correspondence and memoranda, 1964-1965 (Congress of Racial Equality. Mississippi 4th Congressional District records, 1961-1966; Historical Society Library Microforms Room, Micro 793, Reel 3, Segment 43) |
Author/Creator | Congress of Racial Equality. Mississippi Fourth Congressional District |
Folder Description | Most of the material in this folder has to do with CORE and COFO's fundraising efforts. One interesting detail is the estimated cost of the fall 1963 Freedom Vote ($20,000). Eric Morton has a proposal for fundraising, not just for Mississippi, but for the whole South. There's a list of women who contributed packages to people in jails on June 18, 1964. There's another list of materials needed by COFO. Several letters from one Albert N. De Mott proposing a Washington, D.C., demonstration featuring African American Mississippians. A letter from a CORE public relations official complaining of fundraising scams allegedly perpetrated by some volunteers who had been asked to leave the Freedom Summer Project. Richard Tinsley submits a report on his fundraising efforts. Gregory Finger writes a fundraising letter, describing COFO's needs. Richard Haley describes the economically desperate status of CORE in 1965. Lynne Hollander describes the 1965 needs of Mississippians to New York students. There's a list of 1964 SIM participants, an out-of-state mailing list, and a list of contributions received. |
