GW*Vj*c$Qjpt^ MISSISSIPPI PROJECT PARENTS COMMITTEE 100 Fifth Avenue, New York, N. Y. Dear Parents: U R G E N T I We have been conferring with publishers about the publication of a r be ok of letters sent to relatives or friends by the volunteers in the .I'ssissippi Summer Project. COFO agrees with us that such a volume will be .a-.valuable financially (tlie Mississippi Project will receive all royalties), and James Forman is enthusiastic about the possibilities of such a book and :*.ts certain benefits to the Project, We know, too, that your sons and daughters will want to share their enthusiasm, knowledge, and deep, abiding commitment to the Project with all the people of our country. We have obtained the (voluntary) services of a publisher's consultant who will advise us on the mechanics of publishing, and an editor selected by COFO will work with the publisher's editor to ensure that the letters are properly presented from COFO's viewpoint. Speed in getting the letters to us is essential, since preparation and publication takes time, so we urge"you~to act quickly as follows: (1) Send us copies of letters, stories, poems, snapshots, drawings, etc, (You or your child may edit out all personal material not pertinent to the Project,) Address to Parents Committee, Letter File, at above address, (2) Sign (If your child is under 21 years of age) or instruct your child to sign the enclosed release which was prepared for us by COFO's lawyer.
