Angels Sanchez Barbudo 5141 Spring Court Madison, Wis. Madison, Dec.26, 1964 The Honorable Robert W. House Office Bldg. Washington 25, D.C. Kastenmeier Dear Mr. Kastenmeier: I wish to transmit to you warmest greetings and best wishes for 1965 from the members of WILPF Madison , together with the enclosed petition (2 signed ones) , of which, we hope, many more are reaching you these days. They are addressed, as you will see, to the entire Wisconsin House delegation, but we could not think of anybody in care of whom we would rather send the petitions but you, because we trust that you are actively engaged in backing the efforts of the group of liberal Democrats who have joined to present a resolution to bar the seating of the 5 Mississippi Congressmen on the opening of the new Congress, Jan. 4. We had no time to have our petition circulated statewide, and in view of the urgency (with the holidays in between) could only rush and ditto them off, in order to get them to you in time, so you won't receive such a great number of individually signed petitions as we would have liked, but if you will be kind enough to transmit whatever number reaches you to the other members of the Wisconsin Representation in the House, perhaps a small dent could be made in their resistance^ at least of the Democrats) to vote for passage of the resolution. At any case, Madison WILPF members wish to go on record of having urged the Wisconsin House members to join the fight against the State of Mississippi's systematic denial, through violent means, of the American citizens' right to vote. And one cannot think of any better demonstration of the U.S. determination to see racial .justice done, than passage of the Resolution,ka or at least, a good fight for passage! We Msdis&nians are proud and happy that we do not have to prod our Representative to do this. Neither, we greatly trust, do we have to urge you to vote for abolition of HUAC, we Just count with your vote and hope that, even if that Resolution falls to pass,, .there will be a good show as to the number of those agaInst.^eryfflfrared with the heroic times when there was only Bob Kastenmeier and less than a handful of others to stick their neck out. Best wishes for success of all your activities in the New Gongress, and A Happy New Year for you and your family' I (a^C^^ ^ . uL -\_r Angela Sanchez Barbudo, WILPF Leglsl, secretary Madison, Wis*
