Parish st* Jackson,, Miss* Feb* 5C 1962 Dear officers and memberst We anticipate the launching of a South«wide voter registration project* beginning this Springe Funds will be available from National Foundations for use In local communities for voter registration programs* To participate most effectively in this project, we will have to present a unified plan of voter regis** tratlon for the entire state to Mr. Wiley Brandon, Project Director* This program should be in his hands no later than March 1st* We are calling a meeting of representatives from all interested organizations to discuss the aims, scope and strategy of such a plan. This meeting will be held In the Masonic Temple, 1072 Lynch st», Jackson, Mississippi, on Sunday, at 11*00 A.M.., February 18th, We are asking that you send a representative from your organization prepared with the following information: 1. If possible, a report, in writing, of the status of voting and registration In your area. An outline indicating how the plan may best be implemented in your area. 3* A detailed financial budget, including such items as office maintenence, radio and T.V. spot time, Newspaper advertisements, local full and part-time workers, necessary materials. The major Civil Rights organizations will be working In conjunction with the Council. Wo feel it will take our combined efforts to Initiate and sustain a successful program of voter registration in Mississippi.
