Folder Description | Most of the documents in this folder highlight the involvement of law students in Freedom Summer through the Law Students Civil Rights Research Council. This group apparently did research on demand on behalf of civil rights workers in the South. The documents include a list of research projects undertaken by law school students between September 1963-February 1964; a Research Guide for Law Students Civil Rights Research Council; correspondence to summer interns; a report on legal issues dealt with by summer interns in June and July 1964, and blank forms they were to fill out bi-weekly; "Prospectus: Law Student Work-Study Program"; "Policy Manual for Affiliate Groups of the Law Students Civil Rights Research Council" including a style sheet and a list of civil rights agencies; "The Concept of the Urban Neighborhood Lawyer" and "The Harlem Neighborhood Legal Assistance Project"; a blank form for "Post-Summer Evaluation"; a description of a post-graduate internship program; a printed ACLU document on "Academic Freedom and Civil Liberties of Students in Colleges and Universities" (1963); a printed pamphlet from the New York Civil Liberties Union on "Arrest and Detention: Your Rights and Duties"; "On the Power of the Federal Government to Intervene in Mississippi" by Mark de W. Howe; and documents on a "Legal Peace Corps" and on "Federal Programs Research Work."
