Bob Cook, AIM candidate for Congress in the 3rd District, reports considerable success in reaching organized labor on the Issues of his campaign. By publicly supporting the demands of striking workers, Cook has won the allegiance of many union members, who have in turn supporte him at union meetings. As a result, he was invited to address the New Haven Central Labor Council, and the AFL-CIO State Labor Council. The State Council, as in the past, voted to endorse all Democratic candidates in Connecticut; nevertheless, pressure from New Haven union delegates forced the Council to recognize Cook's pro-labor campaign. In an official statement, the Council announced: "We highly commend Cook for his positive and forthright positions on labor and public policy questions, but his position regarding U.S. policy in Viet-Nan is opposed to that of the AFL-CI* and is directly opposite to 3resident Johnson's conduct of the conflict.'' (Cook makes no secret of his opposition to Johnson's war policies anyway!) (i.iM; 241 Orange St.; New Haven, Conn.) Long Island Senator Wayne Morse will be the featured speaker at a Rally Oct. 23rd for the three independent peace candidates of the UNITED FOR PEACE ticket in Long Island. Brush, whose petition had been challenged on a technicality, was notified that his petition has now been accepted and he will thus appear on the ballot In the 6th CD, United for Peace does not have a candidate, but nany people there are urging a write-in vote for Stanley Millet. Millet, an Editor of VIET-REPORT, was barred from the Democratic primary on a technicality. Upstate N.Y. Peace activists in the Rochester area arc waging an active campaign for the two candidates of the VOTERS FOR PEACE ticket. The candidates, Jerome Baiter in the 37th CD, and Donald Feder in the 36th, already won the support of the Liberal Party; however, after a vigorous petition campaign, they will also appear as Voters for Peace candidates on the ballot. (Voters for Peace; Box 3981; Rochester, N.Y.) Voters for Peace has scheduled a series of rallies, TV and radio appearences, etc. for the two candidates.
