This colored map of the Battle of Chattanooga depicts the positions of the Union and Confederate troops before the battle and on each day of the battle. Also shown are Union and Confederate headquarters, roads, railroads, drainage, vegetation, relief by shading, and the names of a few residents in the outlying areas. Fourteen Wisconsin units were active in and around Chattanooga: the 1st Wisconsin Infantry, 10th Wisconsin Infantry, 15th Wisconsin Infantry, 18th Wisconsin Infantry, 21st Wisconsin Infantry, 24th Wisconsin Infantry, and 26th Wisconsin Infantry regiments; the 3rd Wisconsin Light Artillery, 5th Wisconsin Light Artillery, 6th Wisconsin Light Artillery, 8th Wisconsin Light Artillery, 10th Wisconsin Light Artillery, and 12th Wisconsin Light Artillery batteries, and the 1st Wisconsin Heavy Artillery.
