The following information was obtained from the Regimental and Descriptive Rolls, Volume 20: He held residence in Christiana, Wisconsin. On December 15, 1861 he enlisted and was mustered into service on February 12, 1862 in Madison, Wisconsin at the age of 18. On February 16, 1862 he was appointed as a corporal and on August 1, 1862 he was promoted to sergeant. He was mustered out of service on February 12, 1865 in Madison, Wisconsin.
