Officers tendering their resignations will hereafter be required
to certify :
1st. Thit they are not indebted to the United States.
2d. That they hive not been absent without leave.
3d That they have no Government property in their pos
session.
4th. That there are no charges against them, and the date
to which they were last paid.
It is the duty of Regimental Commanders to ascertain the
facts in each case, and their approval upon papers of this nature
will be considered as their certificate that the statements of the
officers are correct
If these instructions are not complied with, the papers will be
returned for correction.
