In sending ft out it is supposed that those who are interested will read every 'line of it carefully and thus obtain all the in¬ formation it is possible to give about the county. If you are not a resident of the county and wish to know whether it is a good county to move to, do not write to so'ne one in the county for information until you are satisfied that somewhere in this book the information you are seeking is not given. WHAT THE SETTLER WANTS The fai mer looking for a new location generally considers tliat the soil, cli¬ mate and markets are the most important things for him to know about. Soci¬ ety, schools, churches^ taxes, politics, roads, etc., are things which are of secondary importance to the three things first named. CLIMATE. People who live in many climates all agree that no climate is without its drawbacks. What suits one person may not suit another and this search for a perfect climate is one of the causes for so much moving on the part of the American people. Those who have experi¬ enced many climates find that what the thermome¬ ter says does not always indicate the pleasantness nor the disagreeableness of the weather. The writ¬ er has experienced many days in Northern states, when the thermometer indicated below forty and -yet not once has he suf¬ fered with the cold so
