BIOGRAPHY. 1205 Omro township. He has also served on the school board for a number of terms. His religious affiliations are Avitli the German Lutheran church, of AA^hich he and Mrs. Zellmar are members. On October 26, 1892, Mr. Zellmer was married to Aliss Adah Belle Aloore, daughter of Asher and Martha Aloore. Her parents are old settlers of the county and highly respected citizens. Mr. Aloore is a blacksmith by trade. Mr. and Airs. Zellmer are the parents of five children—Mil¬ dred, Rosie, IrAdn, Irene and Carl, all living at home. Louis Zellmer, who was for more than half a century a resi¬ dent of AA^innebago county, Wisconsin, was an active and useful citizen and did his full share in developing the material re¬ sources of the county and helping in its transformation from a wilderness to its present high place among the rich fruitful and populous counties of the state. A native of Germany, he was born February 5, 1847, When he was nine years old his parents, Gottfried and Caroline (Diedrich) Zellmer, came to this country from Germany, their native land, and settled in AVinnebago county, the father purchasing forty acres of land in Section 19, Winchester toAvnship. This he subdued and brought under cul¬ tivation, and here they made their home and passed their lives, the father attaining the age of sixty-scA^en years. They were quiet, home people and devoted members of the German Lutheran church, and their bodies Avere laid to rest in the Luth¬ eran cemetery at AVinchester. Louis attended school at AVinchester, and when a lad Avas there confirmed in the Lutheran church. After his parents' decease, he came into possession of the home farm, to Avhich he added other acres from time to time, till he owned 256 acres in Win¬ chester toAvnship, besides forty acres of timber land in Cale¬ donia township, Waupaca county. Air. Zellmer was an energetic, enterprising and progressive man and took pride in making his farm one of the finest in the county. 'And besides a handsome brick dAvelling house, he erected substantial barns, one 120, and another 80 feet in length, and other outbuildings, and added all the needed appliances and couA'Cniences of an up-to-date model farm. He carried on gen¬ eral farming and made a specialty of dairying, having a splen-' did herd of milch cows, A Republican in politics, he never cared for official position, preferring the independence and quiet of his simple home and
