766 HISTORY OF AVAUPACA COUNTY In 1892 he was the democratic candidate for county register of deeds, but owing to political conditions in AVaupaca County at that time met with defeat. Air. and Mrs. Larson were the parents of three sons: Levi C, Edwin E. and Lawrence AI. The public schools of Clintonville, to which city he was brought as a child of three years, furnished the education of Levi C. Larson, and in Alay, 1898, when he was but sixteen years of age, he began his connectidn with the banking business as messenger boy for the Bank of Clintonville. He remained with that institution a little less than four years and then resigned to accept the post of bookkeeper with the German Bank of Clintonville, remaining therewith from February, 1902, until 1904. In the latter year he became assistant cashier of the Clintonville State Bank, but in 1906 left to take a like position with the First National Bank of Manawa, Wisconsin, and in 1908 was tendered the position of cashier of the Clintonville State Bank, which office he still retains. In addition. Air. Larson has become interested in other institutions, and at this time is vice president of the Citizens State Bank of Bear Creek, and treasurer of the Four-AVheel Drive Tractor Company, of which latter he was one of the organizers. Air. Larson's success in business and financial matters has not come as a result of happy change, but is the outcome of a steady, persevering climb, featured by increasing ability, absolute integrity and untiring persistence. He has taken an interest in the affairs of his city and has served two years as a member of the Board of Public Works. Fraternally, he is well known in Masonic circles, having attained to the Knight Templar degree. On November 25, 1909, Air. Larson was married at Manawa to Miss Ethel Bovee, a member of a well known family of that place, and they have one child: Keith D. Mr. and Mrs. Larson are members of the Con¬ gregational Church. August Brehmer. The record of August Brehmer, one of the well known agriculturists of Caledonia Township, is that of a man who has by his own efforts worked his way to a place of substantiality in his com¬ munity. AVaupaca County is admirably located for the successful prose¬ cution of farming, for the soil is exceedingly fertile, the climatic conditions almost ideal and transportation facilities unsurpassed. How¬ ever, although the agriculturist here has these advantages, he cannot gain a full measure of success unless he carries on his operations along the most modern lines and is possessed of the ability to direct his affairs intelligently, and, to a large extent, because of this Mr. Brehmer has succeeded. The Brehmer family is one that is very well known in Waupaca County, where many of its representatives are leading useful lives, for they are responsible, reliable men and women, valued additions to any community. Alany of the men have devoted their abilities and talents to farming, so that a great deal of valuable land is in the Brehmer name and the county is enriched by heavy taxes paid by the prosperous owners. August Brehmer was born on the farm which he now occupies, in section
