History | This pair of rope beds was among the few furnishings remaining in the Dousman-Dunkel-Behling Inn when it was acquired by the Elmbrook Historical Society in 1979. According to the Society, the beds were used by the Dunkel family, who purchased the building in 1884. Originally constructed in 1843 by Michael and Talbot Dousman for use as a stagecoach inn, the structure was converted to a farmhouse by Frederick Zimdars in 1873. |
