Description	The Wisconsin Idea in Action: Reading, Resistance, and the Door-Kewaunee Regional Library, 1950-1952: Author Christine Pawley describes an experimental regional library set up by the Wisconsin Free Library Commission (WFLC) that brought library service to rural Door and Kewaunee counties from 1950-1952. Pawley draws connections between the Door-Kewaunee Regional Library and University of Wisconsin-Madison professor John R. Barton, the statewide “Wisconsin Idea,” Senator Joseph McCarthy (1908-1957), and Cold War anxieties about “subversive” ideas in books and magazines that helped put an abrupt end to the library’s service in 1952.
