America Settentrionale : colle nuove scoperte fin all' anno 1688
Coronelli, Vincenzo, 1650-1718.
Coronelli created this map in an effort to construct a pair of globes for King Louis XIV. He avoided some mistakes of earlier cartographers by maintaining contact with explorers and settlers in the Americas. Therefore, unlike Sanson's famous maps, Coronelli shows the Great Lakes as closed bodies of water and more accurately depicts other landmarks and mountain ranges.
