Iowa County Democrat Special Edition, September, 1891:"Mr. Hornung's business has grown to such proportions as to require more commodious quarters. To obtain these he has purchased two lots on the south side of High street on which he is building two fine store-rooms which will be when competed the handsomest buildings in this city. Mr. Hornings's new buildings will be brick veneered ones. One of them will be 21 feet 6 inches front with a depth of 80 feet; the other will front 20 feet, extending back a debth of 60 feet. These buildings will have fine plate glass fronts with handsome side windows. The buildings will be two stories, the front being of fine galvanized iron which by the way makes the prettiest front possible. Two large bay windows on the second floor will overlook the street, all going to make them the prettiest buildings in Mineral Point. They will add much to the beauty of the street and will afford more room and better facilities for trade. Mr. Hornung is entitled to the success which has come to him as he has made his own intelligence work." This building is included in the Wisconsin Architecture and History Inventory under record number 59711. http://www.wisconsinhistory.org/ahi/
